Pyramids belongs to the same family of card games as Ace Solitaire, Spider Solitaire and Solitaire. Players compete against each other in a 2-player duel. Both players are issued the same arrangement of cards and therefore have the same chances of winning. Players can choose to repeat any game.
Upon finishing their own game, players can either watch their opponent finish their game, leave the table or join a new game. When initiating a game, players can invite a friend to play as their opponent. Play starts with 28 exposed cards on the playing field, with a further 24 unexposed cards in the draw pile (stock). The draw card being played is exposed and lies next to the Joker card, which is made available to the player should he/she be unable to make any other move.
The aim of the game is to dispose of all 28 cards in the pyramid. This is achieved by clicking on accessible cards in the pyramid which have a face value immediately higher than or lower than the draw card. For example, with an 8 drawn, the player can click on any accessible 6 or 7 in the pyramid to dispose of that card. The disposed card becomes the new draw card.
Players can play up to 5 rounds. The player who has collected the most points wins.
