Tarot is a popular card game in which four players play against one another. At the start of the game each player receives 10 cards and the forehand announces a bid (XX-Rufen, Farbensolo, Solo) and an additional call (Absolut, Pagat, Valat). His/her opponents may then outbid and announce their own additions.

The game is played with 20 Tarock cards and 20 suit cards. The Trull cards, Sküs (Tarock card without numbers), Mond (Tarock card XXI) and Pagat (Tarock card I), are worth 5 points, while the remaining Tarock cards are each worth 1 point. The suit cards have the following values: King 5 points, Queen 4 points, Knight 3 points, Jack 2 points and Glatz (10 of Spades, 10 of Clubs , Ace of Hearts, Ace of Diamonds) 0 points.

The aim of the game, depending on the bid played, is to take enough tricks. Note that the Tarock cards (except in a Farbensolo) have a higher trick-taking value that the suit cards. Players must follow suit and Tarock.
