Wordox: Instructions
A new game can be opened by clicking on the “New Game” button. The player may then choose who may join the game (Any, Invited or Friends), as well as the desired skill level of the opponent(s).
When opening a game, the player has the opportunity to select the “Delete Words” option. By choosing this option, squares containing ‘X’ will be shown on the playing board. If a player places a letter on one of these squares when forming a word, all of the words on the board shall be deleted and play will continue with a blank board.
A number of letters will be laid out in front of each player. Selected letters can be placed on the board by a simple click of the mouse.
Wordox can also be played in German. At the start of the game, each player receives 7 letters, with which they should form words. The first word must cover the centre square. Once all of the letters of the word have been placed on the board, the player must click “Finish” to end their turn. Points earnt will then be calculated and issued.
The aim of the game is to be the first player to reach or exceed the winning points total. The number of points to be reached depends on the number of players:
- 2 Players: 50 points
- 3 Players: 40 points
- 4 Players: 30 points
In order to place a word on the board, it must connect with or cross an existing word either horizontally or vertically. The old and new words must make sense, i.e. they must actually be words. Players also have the opportunity to add a minimum of two letters to the start or end of a word that has already been laid to make a new word. Any parallel connections with an existing word must also form actual words. If a word cannot be found in the database, it cannot be laid and a new word must be found. The new word, however, can be nominated for entry into the game dictionary.
The first player to reach the predetermined points total is declared the winner. The game also comes to an close if all players fail to lay a word for three consecutive rounds.

Each letter laid is worth one point. If a player extends a word laid by an opponent by at least two letters, he/she is awarded the points for the original word and the additional letters. In this case, the letters added change the colour.
There are special squares on the game board. These squares have a light green boarder. If a player lays a letter on one of these squares, he/she receives two bonus points. These points remain, even if another player extends the word laid. If a player places a letter on one of the squares marked with ‘X’, all of the words on the board are deleted. The points awarded up until the wiping of the words will remain unaffected.
