Crazy Eights: Instructions
Instructions
A new game can be started by clicking on the button “New Game“. Both the number players and the skill level of the opponents can be selected using the slider. During the game, new players can join in before a new round starts. The player who joins takes over the points of the worst player up until that point. Players who leave during a game are removed from the point list.
Rules
MauMau is a game for 2-5 players and 104 cards are used. Two regular decks of cards are used: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace of Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.
At the start of the game, each player receives seven cards. One card is turned face up while the remaining cards form the deck. Should the single card be an ‘action card’, a second one is taken from the deck.
The player, whose turn it is, can only lay one if his/her cards on the discard pile if it matches either the suit or the value of the card at the top (e.g. 10 of Hearts on 10 of Diamonds, Queen of Spades on Ace of Spades, etc.). If a player cannot or does not wish to lay a card, he/she must take one from the deck. The player must then miss the turn without laying a card.
Rule change! Effective immediately, players will not be penalised for prematurely clicking on “Last Card”!
The Action Cards
Action Card "7"
The following player must pick up two cards from the deck and may not lay any. If the player, however, also has a 7, he/she can play this instead. In doing this, the next player in line has to pick up not two, but four cards, unless he/she also has a 7. This pattern can continue.
Action Card "8"
The following player misses a turn.
Action Card "9"
The direction of play reverses.
Action Card "Jack"
Can be laid on any other card and a suit can be nominated.
Action Card "Ace"
If a player lays an Ace, he/she can lay another card. If the player holds no suitable card, then another must be taken from the deck.
The aim of the game is to lay all of the cards. However, as soon as a player has only one card remaining, this player must say "Mau". Should the player forget to say this, he/she must pick up two cards from the deck.
The round ends as soon as a player lays his/her last card. If the last card is a 7, then the next player must still pick up two cards before the points are totalled. The point values of each players’ remaining cards are totalled up to give a ‘negative points’ sum.
As soon as a player has exceeded the number of negative points allowed, he/she is knocked out of the game. The remaining players continue to play until only one remains – the winner.
PointsThe point value of the cards, which each player has in his/her hands at the end of the round, is added up as negative points. Aces are worth 11 points, Kings 10, Queens 10 and Jacks 20 points. The other cards are worth their face value. The negative points are added up accumulatively each round.
