Who doesn't know the party game where you can lie to your heart's content? If you are allowed to fib you should make the most of it. With the dice game Maxi you will have the ideal opportunity to do so.
There is a wild party in the jungle and the dice will be shaken properly in the coconut. Maxi is the remake of an old dice game in a funny design.
Aim of the game is to get very good results. If you don't roll good results with the dice you have to lure your opponents onto the wrong track.
In this game there are always 2 to 6 players competing against each other. The game is played in real time. You can find details on multiplayer versions here: How do multiplayer games work?
If you start a new game of Maxi you can determine the number of players and the stakes. You also have to determine how many jetons (2, 3 or 4) are available for every player.
You play with a coconut and 2 dice with the numbers 1-6. Funny jungle avatars of all players are placed around the playing field. Depending on the move they change their appearance and pull faces for example. The jetons represent lives in the game. They are displayed next to the avatar images.
The game is controlled with the mouse. Relevant buttons will be displayed for options available for every game move. To perform an action you just have to click on the relevant button with your left mouse key.
With Maxi the players roll the dice succesively and view their results, which stay hidden for the other players. After that you announce your results. You can either tell the truth or bluff because the player whose turn it is next has to roll a better result than you.
The result is determined by the number of points. 2 equal numbers of points are called 'doubles'. If the dice show different numbers the higher number will be counted as the first number and the lower number will be counted as the second number for the results. For example if you roll a 5 and a 6 the result is 65.
The number 21 is something special. It is called 'Mia' and has the highest value in the game.
The sequence of values for the results is
31, 32, 41, 42, 43, 51, 52, 53, 54, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 21
Little by little you will roll the dice and announce. If you don't believe your predecessor you can uncover his dice after the announcement. If you catch him lying he will loose a jeton. If he told the truth you will loose a jeton.
The first player has the easiest job at the start of a new game. It will be much more tricky for the next player as he either has to top the result or bluff. If his predecessor has already announced a high result he might be deemed implausable if he tops that.
Now he has the following options:
- Roll the dice, announce a higher result and pass on the dice.
- Roll the dice, hide the result and announce a higher/equal result and pass on the dice.
- Pass on the dice without rolling them and announce a value that is at least 1 point higher than the result that was announced previously.
- Uncover the dice and expose his predecessor as a liar.
End of the game
The game is over if all the players have lost their jetons except for one. The player who still has a jeton is the winner.
