This trick card game for 2 or 4 players is known in Hungary as Zsírozás (the name means 'grease') or Zsiros, in Poland it is known as Hola and in the Czech Republic and Slovakia as Sedma. It belongs to a group of card games, which are widespread in Middle and Eastern Europe.
The aim of the game is to take as many tricks as possible and gather as many points as possible. As you can only score points with Aces and Tens at Zsírozás you should have as many of those as possible. You don't have to follow suit or trick, which means you can play any card. The last card with the same card image as the first card played takes the trick.
This unusual game is easy to learn and encourages you to develop interesting game strategies. Grab the most Aces and Tens and your victory is imminent!
You can start a new game round by clicking on the button ‘New Game’. You decide who is allowed to play at your table (2 to 4), the amount of stakes and the maximum number of points (1, 5 or 10) you want to play up to. Of course you can also join a round already opened by another player.
At the bottom of the table will be displayed, which player's turn it is and which move is next. At the right side you can see the remaining time to take your turn as well as the stake and your credit. Above the table you can view the current point scores of every player or team. 4 players play in 2 teams of two and you can recognise the teams due to the differently coloured names. You can chat with your fellow players via the chat function.
Zsírozás is played with 32 cards in 4 suits (in descending order Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven). Every player is dealt 4 cards initially. The remaining cards stay in a pile.
You don't have to follow suit or trick, which means you can play any card. The last card with the same card image as the first card played takes the trick. Seven is the Joker, which means they can always be played and conform to the card image of the card played first. For example: Nine, Ace, Nine, King is played. The third player takes the trick with ten points.
If the trick has been taken by an opponent of the current player he has two options: Either he accepts this and starts a new round for which he needs a card with the same image as the card played last or a Seven. For example: Nine, Ace, Ten, Sven is played. The other team would take the trick because of the Seven. But player 1 also has a Nine, which means he can start a new game.
After every trick all players are being dealt cards so that each of them holds a hand of four.
If the game is played by 4 people certain call outs are permitted, which you can announce to your partner with the relevant button.
- No greasing
- No taking tricks
End of the game
Is the pile of cards finished the round is also finished as soon as all the cards have been played.
Ace and Ten are worth 10 points. All remaining cards are not worth anything. There is a total of 80 points in all the tricks. The points for a round are distributed as follows:
- If a team scores more points than the opposing team it is awarded one point. If the point scores are equal the team that has taken the last trick will be awarded this point.
- If a team scor es 80 points by taking tricks it will be awarded two points.
- If one team takes all the tricks it will be awarded three points.
The team that has reached the agreed point limit first wins the game.
