Gin Rummy: Overview
Gin Rummy is a card game for 2 people, which was invented in 1909 in New York. In the 1940s, Hollywood discovered the game that quickly spread among the Stars and even appeared in some movies. The name derives from the fact that the game was often played for drinks.
The aim of this exciting game is to form meaningful combinations (sets or sequences) from your hand of cards in order to then lay them. Laying cards is also known as knocking and is only possible if you have a maximum of 10 points in your hand after discarding a card on the discard pile. The winner is the player who has the fewest points remaining in their hand.
A varied version of gin rummy is Oklahoma gin, in which the first card to be played determines the limit for the knocking.
